INDUSTRY EXPOSURE VISIT TO DECATHLON
On June 5, an insightful industry exposure visit was organized for our students to Decathlon, one of the world’s leading sports retail chains. This visit was a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical, real-world learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
During the visit, students were given a guided tour of the Decathlon store, where they had the opportunity to explore the retail layout and observe firsthand the organization and categorization of a wide variety of sports equipment and gear. From fitness and cycling to trekking and team sports, students were exposed to a broad spectrum of products, enhancing their awareness and understanding of sports merchandising. Students thoroughly enjoyed engaging in activities such as cycling, playing carom, exploring the tent house setup, and experiencing other sports equipment hands-on. These playful interactions not only added excitement to the day but also helped students appreciate the practical use of sports gear available at Decathlon.
In addition to the informative sessions, the visit also included fun-filled interactive activities. Students actively participated in various sports and recreational games, creating a joyful and energetic atmosphere. A particularly motivating moment was when Sumi Sister joined the students in a game of shuttlecock, encouraging them with her cheerful spirit and involvement
In addition to product knowledge, students also gained insights into key aspects of retail operations, including customer service, inventory management, visual merchandising, store layout planning, and sales strategies. The Decathlon team was extremely welcoming and informative, patiently answering student queries and offering detailed explanations in a manner that was both engaging and easy to understand.
This experiential learning visit served as an eye-opener for our students. It allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge in the retail industry. Such interactions are crucial in broadening students' perspectives and equipping them with the confidence and skills required for their future professional journeys.
Overall, the Decathlon industry visit was a meaningful and enriching experience that left a lasting impression on our learners.
