About FIDES
FIDES (Family Integral Development and Education Scheme)
is a
charitable organization founded in 1993 by the Salesian Sisters of
Bangalore Province. It is the visionary initiative of Sr. Nancy Pereira,
created with the noble mission of uplifting and empowering poor
women, youth, children, families, and farmers—transcending barriers of
caste, creed, and colour.
Since its inception, FIDES has been steadfastly serving communities
with dedication, focusing on healthcare, education, economic
empowerment, skill development, sustainable job placements, and de-
addiction support for individuals struggling with alcoholism. Through
these initiatives, FIDES continues to foster dignity, self-reliance, and
hope for a brighter and healthier future.
● 1994 – “A Mandir for Peace “ award for her indefatigable work in the
service of the oppressed people, during the fourth meeting organized
by Shantimandir at Assissi, Italy, ONLUS( a co-ordinating centre for
promoting and organizing voluntary services).
● 1998 – Marisa Bellisario Foundation in Milan (Italy) bestowed the
“Golden Apple” award on Sr. Nancy for having created the Bank of
the Poor.
● 2000 – At Salerno, Italy Fiction Television bestowed on her the
“Golden Apple” award for her Missionary Communication.
● 2001 – She recei9ved the “Golden Mimosa” Award at Catania, Italy.
● 2001 - “A Mandir for Peace” award at Assisi a second time.
● 2002 – International award of the Messenger of St. Anthony
magazine for her sensational witnessing.
● 2002 – She won a bronze award from the St. Anthony’s International
Association.
● 2002 – “Telamon” award at Padua, Italy.
● RAI UNO produced a TV film on Sr. Nancy’s work “A simple Gift” and
a documentary “The courage of dignity” .to sensitize the Italians
about her goodness of heart and her compassion for the poor
