Workshop on Decentralized solid Waste management
It gives me great joy to present this report on the Inauguration and Training & Capacity Building Workshop on Decentralized Solid Waste Management, conducted on 30th April 2025 at FIDES. This important event was a significant step forward in raising awareness and equipping participants with practical skills for managing waste in a cleaner, healthier, and more responsible way—beginning right in our own surroundings.
This initiative was led by Mrs. Spurthi , the Project Coordinator of IPCA, along with her dedicated team, whose efforts made this event possible .The program began with a formal inauguration ceremony, where our esteemed guests were welcomed and the event was officially opened through a tape-cutting ceremony. The occasion was graced by our chief guests—Sr. Sherly, Sr. Jacintha, and Sr. Sumi Joseph—whose presence added meaning and inspiration to the day. Following the inauguration, all participants gathered in the hall where the main program unfolded. The session began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Shamitha, who set the tone for the event with her gracious
and heartfelt words .A creative and thought-provoking skit was then presented by the IPCA team, focusing on the theme of waste management. The performance highlighted key issues and solutions in a simple yet powerful manner, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
This was followed by an Insightful talk by Sr. Jacintha, who shared her reflections on environmental responsibility and the role each one of us plays in keeping our surroundings clean and sustainable .The core of the event was the training and capacity-building workshop, conducted by Mrs. Spurthi. Her session was both informative and interactive, covering practical strategies and approaches to decentralized solid waste management. The workshop empowered participants with hands-on knowledge that can be directly applied in their communities. As a thoughtful gesture, a small kit was distributed to all participants, containing items related to waste management and sustainable practices, encouraging them to put into action what they had learned.
The program concluded on a positive and hopeful note, with participants expressing their appreciation and commitment to adopting better waste management practices in their daily lives. This workshop not only enhanced understanding but also strengthened our collective will to take responsibility for our environment. We are grateful to all the organizers, guests, trainers, and participants for making this event a meaningful and impactful experience.
