Report on Women’s Day Celebration at FIDES
FIDES celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March with great enthusiasm and participation. The celebration was organized to recognize the strength, achievements, and contributions of women in society. The event was attended by FIDES staff and more than 400 women, including members of various Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The programme began with a warm welcome speech by Sr. Sumi Joseph, Director of FIDES, who welcomed the distinguished guests and all the participants. The chief guests for the event were Sr. Lucy (Mother Provincial), Mr. Papanna (Social Worker and Politician), Ms. Doniya Joseph, Sr. Sherly (Superior), Mr. Linu Augustin, and Sr. Rosy (Head of CDEW).
As a mark of respect and appreciation, the guests were honoured with plants and mementos. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing hope, unity, and the empowerment of women.
During the programme, Mr. Papanna addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and their remarkable strength in society. He appreciated the efforts of women who balance multiple responsibilities in their families and communities. dedication and tireless efforts toward the growth and service of the institute.
Sr. Lucy’s Women’s Day speech emphasized that women are the foundation of strong families, peaceful societies, and a progressive nation. She highlighted the hard work, strength, and sacrifices of women and called for unity, mutual support, and true respect for women through actions. She encouraged empowering women and raising future generations with values of empathy, courage, and equality to build a better society.
Mrs. Doniya Joseph, another esteemed guest, spoke about the incredible strength and multitasking abilities of women in various aspects of life. She beautifully compared a woman’s life to a car where many parts work together to create one powerful output, explaining how women manage multiple roles and responsibilities with great adaptability and resilience.
The segment added color and joy to the celebration with several energetic dance performances by SHG women. The performances included Kaverinagar Women’s Dance, a Solo Dance by Ulsoor women, a Village Women’s Dance, and Kaverinagar Kolattam Women’s Dance, showcasing diverse traditional styles and talents. The Solo Dance by Ulsoor women particularly highlighted individual talent and was highly appreciated by the audience.The event reflected strong community participation, with women from different areas such as Ulsoor and Kaverinagar actively taking part in the cultural activities.
Another important highlight of the celebration was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where awards were presented to SHG women for their achievements in individual savings and group performance.

The celebration also included various cultural dance performances by SHG women, showcasing their talents and adding vibrant energy to the event. The performances were enjoyed and appreciated by all the participants and guests.
During the program, the guests addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment, financial independence, and the role of Self Help Groups in community development. Their inspiring words encouraged the women to continue working together for progress and self-reliance.
The celebration concluded with a delicious lunch shared by all participants, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for interaction and fellowship.
