IPCA- WASTE MANAGEMENT AWARENESS PROGRAM
IPCA-INDIAN POLLUTION CONTROL ASSOCIATION WASTE MANAGEMENT
AWARENESS PROGRAM
On June 30, 2025, we hosted the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) team for an
insightful awareness session on waste management and environmental responsibility. Family
Integral Development Education Scheme Trust (FIDES) joined the Project S.O.R.T, funded by
the Mother son Group and implemented by IPCA.
"The session began with an engaging street play highlighting the importance of proper waste
disposal. The performance was both entertaining and impactful, capturing the students' attention
and helping them clearly grasp the underlying message. "This was followed by an informative
talk by Shruthi on the segregate on and disposal of various types of waste, encouraging students
to adopt responsible habits.
A key highlight of the day was the inauguration of aero bins on campus—an eco-friendly
initiative designed to convert wet waste into organic manure, promoting sustainable practices
within the institution. On April 29, 2025, IPCA installed Aero bins, which were inaugurated on
April 30, 2025 by Sr. Sherly Joseph, Superior of Provincial House, Sr. Jacintha Lobo, Lawyer
and Teacher, Sr. Sumi Joseph, Director of FIDES.
To reinforce the key messages of the session, the IPCA team conducted fun and interactive
activities that actively engaged students. They demonstrated proper methods of waste
segregation and disposal, clearly explaining how to classify waste into wet, dry, and hazardous
categories. Using creative smiley balls and color-coded dustbins for each type of waste, students
participated in hands-on learning to better understand practical segregation techniques. This
engaging approach not only educated students about responsible waste management but also
ignited their interest in environmental care.
"To wrap up the session, the IPCA team distributed 'Best out of Waste' gifts, eco-friendly bags to
all participants, and sweets to the students—reinforcing the key takeaways in a creative and
memorable way. The session concluded on a thoughtful note, leaving a lasting impression about
the importance of sustainability."
"Before concluding the session, students received results for the English assessment conducted
by Jacintha Sister. Based on criteria such as attendance, discipline, communication, punctuality,
and the English assessment scores, points were awarded to each student. From these, three
winners were selected and awarded prizes. Finally, the session concluded with a thoughtful
gesture—an eco-friendly potted plant was presented as a return gift to Ms. Shruthi and her team,
symbolizing appreciation and a commitment to sustainability."
